ParticipantI’ve just ordered a Miele W562 & I read that it’s very heavy to move! I’ve ordered from the Coop but unfortunately they don’t offer an installation service.
So after connecting the hose, I will need to move my Miele into a space just a wee bit bigger than itself, under the worktop. The machine will be standing on concrete floor when in place under the worktop.
Has anyone got any tips for moving the machine into the space? I’ve read about using washing-up liquid or a squirt of oil under the feet…but going onto concrete, I wouldn’t imagine that that would help?
Any ideas/tips would be very gratefully received……
Thanks,

Hi Margaret
You will first of all need to remove the machine from the thick wooden plinth, then remove the two long transit bars before you start connecting the hoses and making sure you have water tight connections.
Sliding the machine in under the worktop is going to be a challenge on concrete floor, two strips of thin timber the same depth as the washer lined up to the the feet or a sheet of timber the same depth and width as the space, add a little washing up liquid on it and it should slide in.
If it were me having spent £649 on the Miele I would have it installed by an engineer. Easiest way to find one is to click the “find an engineer” in your post.

Thanks for your reply, Don…it’s much appreciated.
I have ‘installed’ my existing 26 year old Zanussi Z9191T machine…which has moved house with me three times before…so I’ll have probably a go with the Miele myself first, I think….before getting a professional in. Living on just less than a basic state pension each week, an engineers fees can be very hard to meet! The cost of the Miele itself had to come out of my savings pot but having a very restricted space for a new machine… in a very small kitchen, there’s no room for machine movement at all. So it had to be a good’un…no choice, otherwise!
I’ve now got a fellow OAP friend to assist me with trying to move the item in but if we can’t get it moved into place without potentially damaging the machine or ourselves, I’ll get that professional help….
Thanks again, 😀
