ParticipantHi all,
This is my first post on these forums.
I have recently noticed that my Bek 767 S washing machine is getting very noisy during the final minutes of a wash cycle.
Today I have opened the door and found that their is a black substance on a lot of my washing and it smells quite like a burning or oily smell. My first thoughts are that the bearing must have gone on.
I have never attempted a self repair on a washing machine before and wondered if anyone has any opinions or advice which may help. Thanks in advance.

Helo’s obviously had a difficult day….
Noise – drum bearing failure.
Black marks – grease washing back from the bearings through the failed seal.
Burning smell – drum sufficiently out of line that it’s running against the door seal. You have waited too long before addressing the problem, the machine is almost certainly beyond any sort of economic repair.

That is what I expected.
The Wife is hinting at buying a washer dryer, are these recommended in general or should I stay clear?
Also, if they are suitable, is their any recommendations?Paul

Hi Paul
Don`t let it go any further than a hint 😉
Miele is about the best but you would need to pay around £1200 for one, the rest just don`t cut it.
A good read here on washer dryers will help to explain.
Seperate machines is the best way to go.

Out of the frying pan……………… 😆 armed with that amount of money I would go straight for the Bosch WAE24364 or the 1400 spin version WAE28364. Far better built, more flexible in use, good size wash, two year warranty, longer lifespan, I could keep going 😉 but I reckon that`s enough reasons to buy one.
HTH 🙂
