ParticipantHi There
I read the help pages 1st and it would seem that the problem lies with the circulation pump. The machine won’t clean at all although the machine fills, heats and drains ok. After the initial drain part of the program, the circulation pump (I assume that’s what it is) makes a rhythmic droning sound. Although some water can be seen coming out of the lower port of the c-tube (I took the spray arms off to see what was going on) there seems to be nowhere near enough pressure to make the arms rotate.
I cleaned all the filters I could see which seemed to contain a lot of what looked like lint for some reason! But still no change in performance.
From reading your initial guides it would seem the fault may lie with the circulation pump or a linked capacitor?
Is this the right diagnosis and should I proceed please?
Thanks
Oh, the machine is a Whirlpool ADG7550February 19, 2010 at 8:15 pm #312578February 19, 2010 at 8:21 pm #312579dany

Oh dear javascript:emoticon(‘’) are you saying I should replace the offending and shoddy culprit?

Yup. It is a one time fix though. The new unit does seem to be totally reliable.
I fit a couple most weeks with no comebacks.

Hi Penguin
Received the replacement pump today and have fitted it ok.
Just a quick question regarding the electrical connections:When removing the old Askoll pump I noticed there were two earth connections spaded together. I see 2 male spade connectors on the metal casting of the now pump right next to where the multi-block electrical connector attaches. I presume I should separate the 2 shorted female earth cables and attach them to the male spades on the new pump casting?

Nope, Whirlpool clipped them to the Askoll motor in the full knowledge that the replacement (metal framed) motor had to be earthed. It’s a piggy-back connection, so attach both to the terminal on the motor frame.
