ParticipantHi.
I wonder if somebody could help please?
We have a S5457 dishwasher that has worked without a problem for years. However, just recently, we have noticed that some items need to be rewashed. Today, we couldn’t hear the watersparaying around the inside of the unit and on opening the door, the timer was down to 71 minutes and everything was just as it was when we started the programme. I have checked all the easily accessible filters and they were all fine. I see that in the ‘sump’ of the machine there are some philips screwheads and white plastic covers. Are these safe to remove and check under for any possible blockages? There is some water down in the sump.
Could it be that the pump is blocked, or needs replacing? What can I check or test to see what the problem is?
Hope someone can assist. Thanks in advance.

If you pop the door open quickly, is there water spraying from the rotors?
Do this early in the programme or use the rinse programme to avoid getting sprayed with hot water.

Thanks for the response Penguin and apologies for the delay in my response to you.
No. It would seem that the prog is able to run right through without water spraying inside the unit. I base this on the fact some food debris was still visible on the inside of the door after placing the crockery on the racks.
Any further advice would be appreciated.
Tks

If you are certain that the there is no circulation at all and that you can’t hear the motor running, there are a couple of possibilities.
Remove the plug and r/h side panel – the back end of the motor is facing you at the bottom. Using a non-sharp instrument, see if the motor is free to turn. If it isn’t, it may be jammed by a foreign body or the bearings may have seized due to water leakage. If it does turn, the start/run capacitor may have failed. In all these cases, you’d hear the motor humming but not turning.
I did have one some years ago where the motor ran, but the water didn’t move as the impellor had sheared from the shaft – this is definitely unusual with these Bosch-built machines.
