KeymasterDue to confusion caused by a spammer one of the moderators accidentally deleted the huge sprawling thread in relations to the Mistral fridge freezers and their various antics.
The general run of things is that they either over freeze or, don’t freeze or the fridge doesn’t cool correctly.
The cure for most of the problems with these units is both this thermistor used in the freezer and this thermistor.
Obviously we’ve lost some of the information that had been built up on these machines, sorry.

Just my luck that all the info has disappeared as my Hotpoint Mistral Plus FF has decided enough is enough!
I would really appreciate any advice I can get on this, I’m reasonably handy with things so I took the front bottom cover off and cleaned all fluff and dust out, then pulled the unit out, removed the back bottom cover and cleaned the fluff out of there.
The fan at the back of the machine wasn’t spinning? but the black dome thingy was making a noise (normal sounding).
Both doors fit ok and door sensors are engaging.
I then took the panel off from inside the back of the freezer and the fan wasn’t spinning and didn’t move when I pushed the door sensor in ( I thought of that!!)
I currently have my weeks worth of groceries warming nicely in my fridge and a freezer that is defrosting (haagen Dazs is already liquid).
I’m reading about replacing 2 sensors (thermistors), can anyone give me precise details on where they are located and how to fit them, I’m pretty sure I can do it for myself with some guidanceLisa

If the “black dome” was making a noise as long as it is a continuous noise and not a clicking trying to start then thats the compressor running.
The fan next to it would normally be running,is the black radiator looking device (condenser) next to the fan hot to touch ? if not you have some sort of system fault maybe a loss of gas and would need an engineer, not a diy job.May 1, 2010 at 10:12 am #312860NorthernNigella

Hi spimps,
Thank you for the reply, I haven’t put my hand on the condenser but I can feel heat and there’s a feel of warm air coming from under the fridge without even removing the grille.
When I got up this morning it’s still running but no fans going and the display is showing +14 on the fridge and the Freezer is stuck in Fast Freeze mode.
