KeymasterI’m starting now, which should give an indication of how important I think September could be. I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on it yet (as in, it will all be done in time) but I would suggest that anyone with access to this room makes sure that they are available to attend. I should be ready to present what I have in mind though.
All I can say is, hang on to your butts. 😉
If I can pull off what I’ve been scheming, planning and plotting for the past few months (years) it will be worth it just to see the faces of some that are there.
I’ve been held in check for far, far too long. It’s time to start upsetting some apple carts again, in the nicest possible way of course.
Chris, for this one I will need the sound rig for sure as well as two projectors and a couple of Macs at least that I’ll sort out. We’ll also need prep time to make sure it all works as planned. This time I actually want shock and awe.
In the meantime, until I am allowed by myself there will be little more information on what’s coming or what I have in mind and plying me with drink will not elicit any more information as there’s many, many things to consider in what I’m up to. Not least of which is commercial confidentiality as I don’t want someone raining on my parade or stealing the thunder.
All I will say is that, for the independent repairers, it’s a good thing. Quite possibly a very good thing.
With the Heath Affair behind us, a bit of stability and some other things falling into place, we can finally move on. Behind schedule in some ways but, heh, life sucks and you just have to deal with it as you go.
Phil, I’d really appreciate someone (one at least) from DASA there to back up the support of the indies in addition to the WTA. If the WTA can pull off the OFT thing in the interim, great. I think that should be extended to DASA members as well and bury that particular hatchet, it’s old and I can’t be ar$ed with it, life’s too short. The repairers need to unite or at least appear united, if not under one banner, at least under one ideal.
I know it’s a big ask with the limited information but please, give me some latitude and a bit of trust. I won’t promise to please everyone as that’s a folly but I will do the best I can for all the repairers, I just need a bit of space to do it.

I think it’s the way to go in all honesty and IMO.
Doing something like that would hopefully put an end to the petty bickering and encourage some people in this industry, mainly repairers, to stop b1tching about one another and actually have a dig at the real problems they have. As I’ve said for many years, it suits many within this industry to not be having a strong trade association regardless of the flavour it comes in.
We’ll see what shakes out on that front.

KeymasterJohn Mac had an alternative but, I have to admit to not having time to look into it as yet. That said, I’m just as happy to go with whatever so long as it fits the purpose, I really don’t care.

Believe it or not my main gripe the last time with the Hilton was the food.. this time is was very good. but being a scotsman (and since we were the only ones who stayed up late) I can still moan about the bar prices 😈 I wonder if ADE has got over paying £15 for a 6″ pizza yet 😆
There should be a few good ones in the Brummie, Nottingham, Milton Keynes triangle and I will check some out if you want but will need a rough idea of how many rooms and how many for the conference room.

KeymasterMain room for about 100.
Second room, smaller about the size of the one we had John in at Feb ’09 I would think.
I think that should do it I reckon unless anyone else thinks different?

Let’s see, what do we want…
Good meeting room/s
Good bar
Good food
No travelling between any of them other than a short walk
Free WiFi or at least WiFi that can be used in the meeting room/s, the bedrooms and the bar.
Should be easy.
