I’ve been reading the other posts regarding this problem but I think mine might be slightly different. I’ve cleaned the fill pipe out and watched the fill with the side off. The fill does not stop nor does the pump start to pump any water out during it. The barrel shaped bit at the top of the water control does pop out the arm during the fill but I can’t discern any difference in the fill when I prevent it from switching the micro-switch.

The plastic water matrix does not empty at all. The only water going through the water control is that water that flows whilst the inlet valve is open. Insufficient water passes into the machine to enable the top arm to be driven.

Should the water matrix be emptying? If it should, what could be wrong to prevent it?

    TIA

The fill/start process you should be looking for is this :

The matrix ( heat exchanger ) should fill fully until it overflows at the top to the right hand side channel which then flows into the top of the pressure chamber.

As the water flows through the pressure chamber the little arm on the round chamber should pop out which then opens a valve inside the applaince which then allows all the water from the heat exchanger to drain into the appliance.

Now , if the heat exchanger isn’t emptying into the machine and the water coming into the machine doesn’t turn off and just keeps flowing over the top of the heat exchanger and through the pressure chamber then you either have a faulty switch on the pressure chamber…..or more likely a faulty control PCB.

You can check the operation of the pressure chamber microswitches with a multimeter .

I hope this is a good enough explaination for you to follow .

Thanks Paul, I’ll check that out tonight.

The micro-switch operates fine, so I suspect either the control PCB or the valve that should open to let the water flow into the machine. Can you tell me which valve it is? Is there any way to check it?

Is there anything to be done to the PCB other than replace it?

    Thanks
