KeymasterMachine started thrashing about and and making awful noises, then started smelling of rubber. and finally walked its way out from under the worksurface, as if to say it was urgently in need of some TLC. The drum sounds raw when the drum is rotated. Ive got my suspicions that the bearing at the back of the drum has given up. How do I go about replacing it, and where from. How can I check the two dampers at the bottom of the drum havn’t been damaged during the last couple of days. Took my wife three days to tell me there was a problem. Sensible suggestions about the machine would be welcome.

Diplomat 8702 Washer Dryer
Sorry I thought I was working in a specific forum area dealing with this particular machine. Querry is still as before. How do I remove the bearing set from the rear of the drum so that I can replace them. ThanksMarch 29, 2004 at 8:19 pm #110367kwatt
KeymasterMoz,
For legal reasons we cannot give you step by step instructions on how to do that and, to be honest, if you’re asking from the first step then you really need someone that knows what they’re about doing the job. It is not a two-minute job and further complicated by the fact that it’s a washer-dryer and integrated to boot. Anyway, make a mistake and you’re almost certain to have one very wet floor at best. 😉
You’ll probably find that the drum shaft is goosed as well and it’lll need a backplate and drum, rough cost to repair about £200 normally incl. labour and VAT. Most likely the dampers will be fine.
