ParticipantI have a Paul Bocuse Rosieres range oven (about 10 years old) that came with the house – was exciting at the time, but now it is broke – left oven does not heat up well – took the grill element off and found that wiring to this element was not user friendly – wires have little slack and do not extend out into the oven – therefore it will be a pain to get them back on from the front – will it be possible to do this repair from the back? I am not sure which way the wires go back on – will I blow it up if I put them on the wrong way and turn on? I will also need to replace the fan (which makes lots of noise and does not run properly), and might as well do the thermostat while I am at it, even though that may be OK – are all these items accessible from the back? I think this oven is a 4040 but nowhere does it say – perhaps I will find out at the back of the oven when I pull it out – thanks for any advice – Jeff

Hi
the elements are changed from the rear which will involve you pulling the appliance out to gain access to the rear.why take off the grill element ?.
yes you may well cause more damage if you wire the element up incorrectly,as for replacing the thermostst ” why ” ?.
what part of the country are you as if your not sure about this appliance then it may well work out cheaper to get an engineer who knows what they are doing .

Many thanks for the info which is very helpful – I should have left the wires alone and gone in from the back before removing the element – the element is coming off so I can replace it – the thermostat I thought I should replace as well because I am not sure that the element is the source of the problem – I figure that it is not getting hot (only warm) because either it is faulty, or the thermostat is faulty, i.e. I don’t want to have the fix the appliance twice. I am in Australia so have to worry about time and money in terms of shipping (which is why I only want to do this once) – cheers!

I will get an engineer to help me with this once I have the parts – do you think probably just about any competent engineer should be able to do this? or do you think it is important to have someone more specialized who has experience with the Bocuse? If you have a mate in Melbourne Australia then please let me know! There are not too many of these units here, they are a high-end item so if I go the usual route to fixing it (through the retailers) they will charge me an arm and leg – I know that for sure

I have moved you to the Australasian Forum, it might get you one or two ‘local’ replies. 😉

Parts for this are available locally from Qasair (or used to be, I can’t see it on their website any more) but last time I needed some it was cheaper to use the Shop@ link on the left here.
Any competent oven repairer should be able to fix it for you, the following link is to members of the Victorian Appliance Industry Association – http://www.vaia.net.au/members.aspx – so you should be able to find someone local to you there.

I also have a Paul Bocuse 4040 – the lower left element needs replacing. I cannot find a local engineer who is prepared to change the element – claiming they are not familiar with the make! How easy/hard is it to replace? I have bought the element.

From memory, this can be done completely from the front, so there is no reason to move the oven. Any reasonably competent oven specialist should be able to do the job in well under an hour. -
