    Hi,

I have a Bosch Exxcel tumble dryer (approx 4 years old) model number (i think)SP601/51. It is not heating and i checked the reset button , which does not seem to click if i push it and therefore does not solve the problem.
Does this mean i need a new switch/thermostat?

    Can anyone help??!!! Please 😕

    regards

The model number is incorrect Solls. It should start with a Wxxxxxx.
If the temp limiter hasn’t popped and its still not heating , it may be the heater element open circuit.
You will need to be checking the element for resistance which should be approx 35ohms .

POWER OFF AND PLUG OUT WHEN TESTING

    nomadpaul , thankyou for replying

    – the model number is WTA4108GB / 01FD8506000742

As I am a complete novice to tumble dryer technology – when you say the temp limiter hasnt popped do you mean that if I push it (the red button) in it wont click/stay in. Currently it just pushes in and pops out again. Dos this therefore mean i will need to check the ‘heater element open circuit’ as you suggest ? If so can you explain in a bit more detail how i do this – ie where i place the meter?

    Appreciate your help and patience

The temp limiter will ‘click’ if its popped open circuit. If the red button doesn’t click then its likely that the temp limiter is ok.

I’m guessing that you have the rear panel off so looking at the back , the heater connections are on the right hand side . Disconnect these and check the continuity between the two prongs.

I can’t go into too much detail due to forum rules.
