Participantok so has anyone had a go at doing one or have any previous experience of working on cd players at all?
this is a fairly common problem (to me at least) that ive experienced on several bits of my equipment, bush, alba, sanyo, and in this case, aiwa…
basically the cd player will load the cd but it wont recognise it. it spins it several times, but im guessing theres either a fault with the lens picking up, or theres an isue with it not being able to spin the cd fast enough to allow pickup.
also yes ive just wasted 20 minutes using a cd head cleaner… 🙂
details below…
retail code – nsx-22
model code – cx-ns22k
serial code – s01w7c10367
made in uk (interesting)

Hi, its usually one of 2 things most commonly the opticial pickup ( laser unit )is yours a KSS213B or KSS210A there should be a label by the wiring connector on the laser unit. Spindle motors also give trouble but this usually will be lots of skipping on tracks esp the last ones of the cd. I would take a guess at laser first. Regards Geoff

I repaired one of these many years ago. I’m sure there was a tiny screw near the laser which allowed for adjustment. I’m sure turning the screw caused the laser to raise very slightly allowing better ‘pickup.’

I know tell me about, thing is “i did have the receipt, but i thought my mrs threw it away, but ive suddenly found it again. its got aiwa on it and i see you still sell aiwa so you must have sold it to her, i know it has been sitting in my garage for the last 8 years but thats because it wasnt fit for purpose, and so i had to buy a new one so can i have a refund? what ? no ? well how about a replacement or an upgrade if you havent got the same model still in stock. its my yuman rite to one yu no, trading standards/citizens advice beaurot (*delete as app.) have told me you cant ignore me”

Yes that is the laser power adjustment, sometimes it works if you adjust it slighty clockwise but to be honest i would replace the laser, the adjustment is factory preset and does not require setting up. the shaft & gear also could do with some grease when the new laser is fitted as it looks dry. cheers geoff.
one last question (2 actually)
silicone or lith grease?
and
which of the 3 on connect should i get?
is it like dom appliances where one component is the same as all the rest, i.e the “classic” (KSS213B laser assembly konig) is the same part as the “aiwa” (KSS213B laser assembly aiwa) or will they have different laser presets?
only really asking as a: id rather have the part in on wed, rather than wait 4 or 5 months for connect to get it, and the stereo prolly isnt worth more than the £26 the aiwa oem part will cost!
