The machine washes normally but then does not go beyond the rinse stage. Main motor is good, drain pump works – no obstructions, capable of pumping out. I emptied the machine of water after a failed wash and the water was full of detergent, so that’s why I know it’s not going beyond rinse.

I have recently had the machine start to spin whilst over-full of water (immediately after replacing the motor brushes). Will that have knackered a pressure switch?

I’ve just ran the rinse program – cold fill and rise was normal but the the drain pump started. Normally there’s a gush of water but now it sounds like a trickle and the level in the drum is only falling very slowly.

Then I tried the spin program – water level must have already been quite low, pump started, same trickle of water, then timed out to flashing end light with no spin.

Should I be looking for a blockage, or a defective motor?

Thanks Martin. Found a bra wire in the sump hose, obstructing the ping-pong ball. That’ll be it then? I hope.

Now I think I’ve fixed it – for the benefit of anyone else with the same problem: the blockage was outside of the machine where the waste goes into the sink trap, the male barbed fitting that pushes into the waste pipe was totally plugged with fluff and debris.
