ParticipantHi, my hotpoint dishwasher is flashing the “prewash” light (light 5 from the left not counting the rinse aid). The programme tries to start but then it stops and this light comes on.
Can anyone tell me what this could be?
Thanks

Thermistor (temperature sensor) failure. It’s integral with the awful Indesit Bit100 pcb, so complete replacement required.
Several versions, will need serial number to identify exact part number.

Thank you. Would it be best to call hotpoint? Will this be expensive?

Oh, and my door catch went last week – still washes but doesn’t completely close. I gather this is a common problem and was going to order the part and try to do it myself. Maybe I could get both done under the hotpoint fixed price repair?

£105 and The Indesit Company is all yours. They will try and sell you an extended warranty when you make the call….
If you are reasonably confident with your own ablility, the pcb/thermistor is £40-55 depending on the serial number, the latch unit is HERE at under £8.

I’m definately happy to have a go myself – where will I find it to get the serial number and what does it look like?

Full model details can be found on a label on the edge of the inner door panel.

PCB should be p/no C00143209 for that serial number.

ParticipantPenguin,
I have the same issue (I think?), the wash starts and the water heats up but hen the prewash light flashes and it stops. When I open the door it is warm as it is steaming. The serial number for my D/W is 801172569, will i need the same part do you think?
Thanks for your time

Possibly, the small NTC is hard wired to the control PCB, it clips into a small bracket on the inner door.
You should check it first because if it comes adrift it will give the same error code.
If you do open it up then be sure to unplug first and take great care with the edges of the inner door, they are razor sharp.
PCB for your machine is a C00143209.
