    Hi
My dishwasher shows an AL4 fault after about a month of moderate use.
I have been tilting it to drain the water causing the problem, after which it work OK again.
How many times can this be done without any serious problems?
With an 8 year old dishwasher, is replacement a better option than repair if reliability could be a problem as it gets older?

    Thanks

    Hi.

Are you sure it isn’t DES959?

Anyway, AL4 means that you have a leak. How many times can you tip it up to get the thing to work? How long is a piece of string.

At 8 years old, I would suggest that there are fewer days ahead than behind to put it diplomatically. Unless it is something simple like a leaking/split pipe which would need checking for, it may be easier & cheaper in the long run to replace as usually it is the circ pump that leaks & they can be pricey.

    Thanks for the reply SpinDoctor.

You are correct, it is a DES 959 (typo!).
I had looked at the price of replacement parts, and if it is an expensive item as you suggest, then it is indeed better to put the money towards a new dishwasher.
Many thanks for your comments, I will continue to drain until the problem becomes too frequent, and then replace.
