Went to this machine “no drum action”. Checked brushes which were non existent so replaced. Tested and left with drum rotating fine. Got a call 2 hours later saying it had stopped with washing in machine. Went back and drained machine and it went into spin. Checked brushes ok. Now to cut a long story short basicly what the machine is doing is if you start a programme, by pressing start the led goes from “Ready” to “Active” and the machines starts the programme. Every now and then it keeps switching back to “Ready” and stops. You then have to keep restarting it. I have checked everything i can think of. Sometimes it would do it after filling and tumbling a few times but just before i left it had been washing for about 5-10 mins and had not done it.Any ideas?
Thanks

Armature is generating electrical noise and throwing the computer. You can try cleaning the commutator, profiling the brush tips for an immediate better fit or ponying up for the gen BSH carbons.
The motor may be goosed anyway.

After going back to this machine and changing brushes, cleaning motor, checking wires and a lot of head scratching i have discovered that the fault only actually accurs on the first selected programme, which is 30o cotton. After extensive testing on all other programmes including spin it never switches back to start. The strange thing is, it definately has something to do with the motor because it does it just before the motor is about to turn, ie drum tumbles, pause, tumbles, pause then cuts to start. It was on this programme when it origionally stopped. When i checked the brushes one of them was worn right down so you could see the copper wire through the surface of the brush. I wonder if this has damaged something on the board on that programme? Not sure, its a bit strange. Anyway customer is happy to put up with not using that programme as new board is £260.
