Bosch Logixx 8 – Heater or Thermostat issue+Conditioner tray

Hello I have a Bosch Logixx 8 Washing machine

Model Number E-NR-WAS28466GB /03

After 3 years the machine has developed two issues . Reading through the forums it looks like the main issue may be related to a faulty thermostat / heater.

Issue 1

Washing cycles never end . They allways seem to get stuck with 1 minute left . If you then select Spin cycle it finishes normally. I believe the cold cycle does complete with out sticking at one minute.

Issue 2

The fabric conditioner tray does not empty . ( following advice here I have cleaned the tray and the water jet holes above the dispenser).

I contacted Bosch and they indicated that it also sounded like the Thermostat / Heater. The machine is out of warranty and I was wondering if people would recommend which of the following.

A – Call Bosch out on time and materials ( £90 + parts)
B- Take out extended Domestic and general warranty ( £180 for year – Unlimited call out in that year)
C- Try to use a local independat engineer ( any guesstimate of cost ?)
D – Order the spare parts and try to fix my self ( I am reasonably technical working with and repairing PC’s but have never attempted a washing machine).
