Machine completed a wash cycle…..clothes all soaked no apparent water otherwise left in drum but it stopped and displayed above code.

I removed back from machine and took off pipes from drum to pump and pump to waste….all pretty clear removing light gunge as normal and pipework had water levels expected due to gravity etc drum was empty of water.

Put all back together ensuring all pipes clear and secure and put on for an empty wash (as recomended from time to time on instructions) and went off to do other things keeping an eye from time to time for leaks. All appeared ok until time to pump out when pump sounded dry – no water emitting from pipe (I had placed into sink rather than full refit to check water pumping out) and returned to fault code E15 check outlet pipes. Checked inside drum…dry…and pump/exit pipework all virtually dry.

I took pump off and pipework and ensured all exit pipework was clear. The penny dropped that as the drum and pipes were pretty empty and nothing had apparently been pumped into sink…it was probable that the machine couldnt pump out what wasnt there.

I set it up again for a simple wash and it tried to start washing without first pumping water in so I switched it off rather than let it run and attempt to heat/pump dry. Inlet taps are switched on.

Any help appreciated. Can the pump be checked by wiring direct to a 240volt supply? What is/are likely causes?

    Thanks
    Alan

It can be noisy at spin and the pump is a bit noisy but not excessive. I got the machine second hand from a friend a few months ago so unable to say it has become noisy. Any particular noise you are asking about? Unfortunately I generally switch it on and walk out leaving it to do its own thing

I “force fed” it with water….i.e. filled it through the front loading door with some water…….put a couple of towels inside and it ran thro a full wash without a problem. I have now done two half loads and it has gone through virtually its whole cycle (cant say exactly when it stopped but clothes appeared clean and at usual level of dampness – I didnt sit and watch but heard it beeping as it developed its fault however timewise it was about right for full wash cysle) and it no longer shows error code E15 but now shows E14 Call for a service engineer. switch off and back off and it works fine so it doesnt retain the code.

You need to arm yourself with a megger or suitable multimeter and test the heating element for insulation faults. With the mains plug removed of course.

What helo_75 is alluding to is that if there is noise then either the bearings are failing or the drum support has fractured. This will allow the inner drum to slice into the heating element and does throw up the E15 error code.

Heater is accessed from behind front panel.

Thanks….listened closer and no obvious bearing noises or unbalance in drum when spinning. The pump does sound as if it may have dry bearings as it sounds a bit “course” for want of a better description.

It does go thro the full wash programme before showing the E14 code after it has thoroughly spun the wash – the E15 code has gone.

It will come back. E14 is also a heater fault. The type of pump used in these machines does get noisier with age and it will eventually ‘lock up’.

Still looks like you have a heater fault.
