ParticipantAll other functions seem to work but drum does not move on any setting.
I have inspected the brushes and there is about 20mm left on them (enough for them to still press on the commutator, which does not appear worn)
Any hints on where to start trouble shooting. I have the motor off and no smell of or visual burn visible on any parts.

Participantif the brushes are ok, and the motor checks out with a meter
then its a problem with the module ( in a plastic case, bottom rear
its worth checking the multifunction plug connection first as they commonly broke there due to a bad connection
plug out, of course

Thanks. What should I check on the motor with my meter if not testing it live?

OK, done a bit more digging and found…
The motor (6pin connector)has continuity between 1st pair of pins (black/grey – to brushes) and 2nd pair (red/brown – to field coils). remaining pair are to speed sensor I think.
Does this mean that the motor should be ok and its probably the PCB?March 21, 2010 at 12:28 am #315771Penguin45

Now you do the continuity check from the motor loom plug back to the pcb. If that checks out, all that’s left is the pcb. If you are lucky, a visual inspection of the board may show a burnt-out joint which can be re-soldered. If there is no damage, the board may have died – if there are tracks blown off the pcb, the motor and the pcb will need to be replaced. Probably time to give in and buy a decent machine if that is the case.

All wires back to PCB check for continuity, PCB – no burn/damage visible, capacitors intact. As the dryer stopped working over a year ago (not investigated, just use it as a washer as we have 2 Wash/Dryers) Could be time to just buy a new dryer.
This machine has been a trooper, nothing else wrong with it since I bought it sometime around 1995 I think. Don’t think its even worth getting a PRO in to verify my findings.
Any recommendations on what a ‘decent machine’ is!?

Participantunfortunately, u have to spend a reasonable amount of money
stay away from the chinese/italian/turkish things
mid-high range bosch are probably about the best value… for quality and durability , miele (although ugly and ridiculous pricing structures) or ise machines (local supplier back up and long warranty) are the best way to go
