    Evening all,

    Wondering if anyone had come across a problem I have with the above m/c?

    The customer complained of the m/c’s drum not spinning, and I removed the motor to examine the carbon brushes. They were practically worn out, so I renewed them and tested the m/c.

    However, the drum still refused to turn so I checked the earth insulation with my Megger (good reading) and the supply to the motor.
    This is intermittent, so I suspect the pcb/control module.

    The wiring including earths appears fine, although the on/off switch glows dimly compared with the other 3 or 4 lights.

    Wondered if anyone had experienced this, as I am fairly new to the business, and don’t want to condemn the pcb if it is not this at fault.

    Circuit through the motor? There is a TOC on the brush plate in-line with the brushes.

    Intermittent supply to motor could be dry joint on relay.

    Or “intermittent” supply to motor could be normal as it will be stopping and starting during programme.

    Evening all,

    Thanks for your replies.

    I apreciate the power supply is not constant due to programme… i.e. should be turning motor clockwise/anticlockwise.

    Could you let me know if it is possible to test the TOC, and approximately how much one costs?

    Unless there’s a Bosch expert around, (and it may be worth waiting a day or two) I think you’d need to remove motor and figure out which terminal went where – possibly even remove (brushes) end bracket and brush holder. I don’t think you could buy toc on it’s own, I think it comes as part of the brush ring (holder).
    Go here and click on spare parts (“e-shop”) and search for relevant PDF.

    Second thoughts: Disconnect brush terminals and test for continuity between each and at least one motor plug terminal. If you find one of them doesn’t have continuity to any motor plug terminal, then you have probably got an o/c toc.
    Third thought: Did you make sure new brushes were making contact with armature?
