My White Knight dryer CL847 the ‘A’ rated one has developed the following fault after seven years of use.javascript:emoticon(‘’)

It is no longer going through its cool down phase at the end of a cycle and using a lot of electricity. This results in the thermal switch at the rear being tripped every time and resulting smell.

Both thermostats are not open circuit and there are no blockages, I have removed what little fluff there was inside the machine.

Really would like to repair it rather than taking it to dryer heaven.

Any pointers and advice would be much appreciated.

Sounds like there could be a short circuit somewhere, possibly in the terminal block where the mains cable enters the machine. With the plug out take the lid off and do a visual inspection of the wiring for anything burnt.
