What is it wth hotpoint machines lately, i just had 5 wmd960 machines come in all counter weights broke and smashed hole in top of drum, that not only model number but all hotpoint now have 20 odd machines sitting here all with same fault, anyone else having problems with them?just got to decide if to repair or scrap the lot

    Re: hotpoint

Indesit group stuff does seem prone to this problem. Of course if caught early before the weight or drum is damaged then its an easy fix.
Says more about the attitude of customers towards their appliances these days though doesnt it.. ignore the racket, it still works, its 3 years old anyway :rolls:

i had to drill thru and use long bolts to hold the bottom counterweight onto a 18 month old wf541. initially thought machine was a write off as it had ripped the lugs off all three mounts, cos sealed tub. thank god for araldite and threaded rods 😀

we were unsure at first, but as it was a mates machine we gave it a shot, as they were happy to get a new one if it didnt work, and its still going strong now – 2 years on

ive since done it to another 2x 541s with same problems although never had a h/p with a loose top c/b tho always been the lower ones!!!
