Just bought a new door seal for a Siemens washing machine which was described as a ‘Genuine part’.
How can I tell if it is genuine, would it be marked in some way?
Can’t find any marks on my item.

Usually the packaging or the part number should tell you.

The item was supplied loose with no packaging.
No numbers or marks on the actual item.

Its all in the wording, was it described as a ‘Genuine part to fit’ a Siemens or a ‘Genuine Siemens’ part. There is a small but subtle difference. 😉

Often quite a big difference in quality though. 😥

Good point could be a play on words I suppose.

Just thought the real McCoy would have some sort of small marking on it?

That is nearly always the case.

Some ‘pattern’ spares are actually sourced from the people who manufacture the parts for the appliance makers and will be of the same quality in most cases. Others are just blatant copies and the quality can vary enormously.

With door seals you can often see and feel the difference.
