ParticipantHi Guys. Any help on this would be appreciated. I was called by one of our regular contracts to look at 4 of these washer dryers that appeared to all be faulty..! Weired I know. I dont know the background to them, i.e. where they have been stored etc but they are all brand new and never been used. I tested them with the Mega and they are showing slight earth faults, but as yet havent pulled them out, because they are integrated and the builders as usual have made a pigs ear of installing them. Having said that, all the basic stuff is ok, water on, waste pipe high enough etc.
If you set any of them to a programme and press start, they run for approx 30 seconds then the door unlocks and the pause/go button starts flashing. This happens if you try them on any programme, even drain.
There is no user manuals, so hoping Im not doing something stupid or missing something, just seems odd that they all do the same thing and all have slight earth faults.Im going to strip one out tomorrow and obviously check, motor,NTC and heater, Im hoping that the motors are perhaps damp. Would this cause these symptoms?
They are on a top floor of a newly built block of flats, so they shouldnt be damp, but who knows..!
Has anyone come accross this machine before and is that perhaps a default that the machine stops itself if there is a fault.
Thanks Guys in anticipation

I would check the dryer heater, they have issues 😉

What do you mean by, “slight earth faults”? Below 1 megohm? If a dryer heater on Zan/AEG/Lux goes below 40 Megohm it can prevent machine starting. 😯 Disconnect it safely and try again, machine will work with it out of circuit. Maybe the machines have been lying unused for a long period while the flats were being sold/rented. If that doesn’t work, try motor disconnection. Machine should still start OK.
If you’ve got a whole block of flats with these in you might be on to a good thing.
😉

I have had a sudden run on dryer heaters going down to earth on these, all fairly new and lightly used as well. 😥
As Mike says, dish all the leads to the dryer heater and the machine then fills and washes fine.

Thanks guys for your input. Certainly sounds as though, dryer heaters are a real concern on these, so a good to start.
Thanks again. I’ll update the forum when I eventually get one of the machines out of it’s little hole.

Just an update on these machines chaps. It was as suggested by the other posters, dryer heating elements.. The same fault on all four machines, all brand new and never used. Ive got four more to go look at tomorrow, with similar symptoms…! Fingers crossed..
😛 😆
Certainly looks like one to watch out for. Thanks again guys for your invaluable input..! Saved many hours of headscratching
