Hi all, visited a 15 month old Hotpoint WDL540P with leak problem.
After running on rinse a few times water glugged out of the soap box during last rinse.
These machines don’t have a vent to allow air to escape during fill, relying on the design I assume of the soap box to tub hose.
Removed and inspected hose for blockage. Hose has a built in trap with a flap to allow air to escape?
Customer has very high water pressure.
Turned down pressure but I’m informed the machine is still leaking, “sometimes!”
Any ideas apart from dragging it out into the garden and planting geraniums in it?

Check that the filter is not blocked.. I know it sounds stupid but you could have a blowback caused by the air in the machine

A quick resolve would be to turn down the pressure of the cold water

I have a customer with a similar problem and the only way we have found to stop it is to run the machine with the soap draw open around an inch. Careful examination revealed that water from the inlet (in the roof of the soap box) would occasionally direct itself onto the very front of the soap draw (the ledge) rather than into the two compartments. The event seemed completely random. Another customer had the same thing happen under g/tee and the soap box was changed but it still leaked. Again I advised running the machine with the draw slightly open and they phoned me a short time later to advise me that the suggestion had ‘worked’.

Thanks both, seems to be a problem with this range, much like the old Wirlpool machines.
I still think using it as a geranium planter is the best option.

Turned out to be a bit of each so unblocked the mains stop cock and turned down the filter. Think I got that right………. 😯
    Thanks again.
