Just been out to this one. Any help would be useful.

It’s basically a high up the range Exxcel model with digital display and drying sensors with all the whistles and bells. Costs about £450 new.

When you select a program all seems normal and the display shows remaining time. However, as soon as the program selector is moved the light under the start button flashes. The machine will not start its cycle. Instead you just get two beeps when you try pressing the start button.

Seems to me that the flashing start light is the machine detecting a fault on its power up? The question is how do I find out what that fault it?

    Cheers,
    Steve.

Theres a couple of bosch dryer posts a few down from here. Have you checked door lock side of things?

Door switch is a simple micro-switch affair and seems okay. The fact that the start light is flashing says to me that the electronic box of tricks does a quick system check as soon as you set the program knob on anything but the ‘off’ position – the programmer is detecting a fault somewhere. It would be useful if someone knew how to access the diagnostic side of the electronic box of tricks.

Just asking again for ideas on this one? Surely someone has a diagnostic PDF?

Once you select the required programme you leave it on that setting then touch the start/stop button. Why would you then want to move the programme selector I wonder? 😕

Sorry, I worded that badly! What I really mean is that soon as the selector is moved from the off position the start light begins flashing and the start button does not start the machine.

I’d still be thinking about a new door lock. Does it double beep at you when you try and start it ?

Try to start it with the door open and then with the door closed . If the results are the same then that should push you in the right direction.

IIRC the start light will always flash once a cycle is selected but should go to a solid light when it does start.

Yes – It does a double beep when you try and start it.

The door lock itself looks pretty basic in electrical terms. You are correct in that the machine responds in the same manner regardless of whether the door is open or closed and I see your logic on that point. However, the door lock itself is just a microswitch and when pressed with a screwdriver appears to give a nice healthy click.

    I’ve had a look at the part online. Here is a link… http://www.espares.co.uk/part/tumble-dr … latch.html

As you can see the electrical side of things is very simple. Normally failed microswitches dont click so positively.

    *** Resolution ***

It was the door interlock. The microswitch itself was okay but the contacts in the small terminal block between the interlock and the harness are the weak link. Made a slight modification and the machine now works perfectly.

    Cheers,
    Steve.
