KeymasterHi all
Can anyone give me any pointers for the following fault:
Start any wash type. Machine starts filling / rotating, then after a couple of minutes will abrupty empty, spinny dial with 8 flashes. Quite often after a reset it will work ok 2nd or 3rd attempt – so an intermittent fault somewhere, perhaps a sensor or connection. Also after a test fill once (before I use powder!) I set it to drain programme and the fault occured again – bit odd if all it has to do is empty.
The machine is a cheapie and only 1.5 yrs old – bit disappointing really. I’ll get round to having a look this weekend but any clues much appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Mike,
Its a Heater problem, either a faulty heater, heater connection OR and what I think is most likely, a faulty electronic module/and or connection to it!
The main electronic module board at the back are very troublesome!

Thankyou for the reply. I will take a brief look this weekend for anything obvious.
If it is the control board would there be any compensation from Indesit due to it being only a year and a half old and used once a week? (Doubt it but feel they should!)
Also with a machine that costs £200 and a possible repair up to £100?, wouldn’t it be sensible to buy another more reliable machine? If the board is tempermental it could happen again in a years time. Personally I dont like this throwaway society and means bad business for the repair guys out there!
I’ll see how I get on and let you know…..

How very true Mike, a point we are trying to get across to the manufacturers if only they will listen?

It gets worse…. 🙁
I had a look inside, checked all connections, cleaned the pcb connectors (spring clip to one side of the pcb only?!) and tried again. This time the LED stayed on then after about 15 sec started spinning at full speed! A second attempt and it sat there humming…
So I bought a new module from the official spares dept (£74). “Yes we have several in stock – dont sell many of them I guess” – ha. All I was asked was if my drum is plastic or metal.
Installed new module diligently and switched on (selector on stop position). After apprx 14 flashes water & drain pump started – and doesn’t stop, selector spins and 3 flashes.
Looking further down the list I see a guy called cliff had the same thing. Maybe I got the board he sent back perhaps? If you read this cliff please post!
Also just found out someone else at my workplace had problems with an indesit control board, they gave up and bought a new machine….heck…
Any advice anyone? (Dump it?)
Cheers

It’s a classic case of gaining wisdom from experience. In your case Mike it would have been better had you called in Merloni in the first place. They at least would have used the famous Merloni ‘poke it and hope’ method of trying to fix it, BUT at their expense and not yours!
Ah Well ! I guess you’ve already decided the fate of your machine?
My advice…..by a new BOSCH.

Hi martin,
Yes, I should have called someone but I have chosen a path now. If I call an engineer now the overall costs approach the cost of the machine! What a disaster – no more indesit for me, ever.
Would a little used W103 (about 80 washes) be worth something to someone?!
As for Bosch, I work for Siemens and can normally get them with staff discount – though you do pay more for them. But a service engineer is the one to know whats best!
Fate of said heap is undecided. In light of the new sticky post about fault codes I guess asking what the 3 flashes are is out of order? 🙂

Na Mike, it’s not that at all it’s just that a lot of customers seem to think that the fault codes are some sort of magic cure for diagnosing problems and they’re not. All they do is offer guidance on where to start looking, even if you read through these forums you’ll see that almost any fault code can mean up to three or four different faults have occurred and, whilst the engineer may well have a good idea and go for a particular component first because of the code and his experience, it doesn’t mean that he is guaranteed 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that that is the actual fault in many cases. After that it comes down to good old fashioned human diagnostic skills.
By all means ask away about the codes there’s no issue with that at all and I’m sure someone will help if they can, just don’t expect a “smoking gun” from them. 😉

😯 What a shame for the old Indesit machine. If anyone needs spares for Indesit and Ariston, they are going cheap. Parts never used and still boxed in original boxes. Genuin spares only, no pattern parts. 😀
We have lots of W83UK, W93UK, W103UK, W123UK modules and selectors, elements, CNT/NTC’s and temperature sensors, washer dryer fans and motors, door asseys and lots of 056014 motors which fit Haire and MFI dishwashers (AHY8122 if I remember correctly) and some Eeproms. Many standard modules in stock.
Bearing casts (larger bearings and smaller bearings) bearings for plastic tank models, plastic tanks, inner drums for certain modelsAll parts sent by Royal Mail.
THE LIST GOES ON. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. 😥

You’ll be real pleased to see the post I just made in The Rumour Mill at a guess. 😕
