my fridge freezer has been playing up. firstly it is a hotpoint ffa90 model.
it has a lcd screen at the top and this kept bleeping with a temp reading of minus 2 then minus 1 etc, the fridge part seemed okay, so i turned apliance off for two days and i have turned it on and the same is happening , i have looked at the compressor and it was humming , but after a short while it went off and the temp of freezer rose again. i have noticed that the fridge now does not work and feels very warm.
i contacted an engineer who said it was the compressor and it would cost 160 pounds, but i explained that the compressor would turn on then off after a short time. the lcd screen is flashing with the temp reading and a thermostat symbol, whats happeningRe: compressor
The original engineer is probably right – what I want to know is when you say the compressor turns on and after a short while turns off – how long is the short while? When it turns off do you hear a click and then after about 20 minutes does it turn on again ?

THE ENGINEER CAME OUT AND TESTED THE COMPRESOR IT SEEMS OK AS IT TURNS ON , GETS WARM THEN TURNSON, THE TEMP IS GOING UP AND DOWN MINUS 7 UPT PLUS 1 AND SO ON . THE FAN IS NOT MOVING , BUT HE CHECKED THIS AND TOLD ME THAT THE SYSTEM NEEDS REGASSING. I HAVE ALSO BEN TOLD THAT IF I REMOVE BACK PANEL AND DEFROST FOR 24 HOURS SHOULD BE OKAY.
