Hello,
I was at the local scrap yard the other day and noticed a traveler/pickey just dumping a load of fridges as if they were normal washing machines 😯 and getting paid for them!!!
I asked one of the men who worked there is that ok? he said yes if you got any just bring them in! i also asked at another yard that used to treat refrigeration and had the same response from them!!!
And everywhere i look at the minute i see them on the back of the scrap lads vans!
Which started me thinking as the law changed? i have searched and cant find anything to say different.
Then i started looking for a place nearby who will dispose of them properly and i cant find anywhere in the west midlands.
I am just a bit bemused with the situation and would like some clarity.
How do i get rid of refrigeration now?
What is the standing with the enviroment agency and weee?

dont forget many of the more decent “pikeys” you mention visiting the yards tend to be close or extended family.
theres a reasonable level of scrapvalue at the moment on a f/f that can make an unregulated disposal of a fridge worth taking.
bear in mind general scrap value is now falling again tho, so this is likely to be shortlived…

They take them here but only pentane.Cought with anything else and you are banned from the yard

I have notice the vans trvelling along the main road in front of my shop carrying heaps of TV’s too …
