Participantam i right to assume there is no specific way round the tags fit onto the new style pump as i couldnt see any codes/no.s/or references to which way round on either old style or new style pump.
also doesnt say on the hp service sheet whether it makes a difference…???

I don’t think it matters.

ParticipantRe: ctd80 still trippin out.
machine was leaking and tripping out, pump housing was overfilled and f/s polystyrene was completely saturated. hardened dampened fluff debris was caked all over resin of the top of old style pump. tested pump + was dead, assumed was damaged from water ingression thru a “pore” in the resin when it overfilled, so replaced.
bench tested for hour (apparently would trip out after about 20 mins in house) and worked fine, admittedly without a wet load – so tested by semi-filling pump chamber with water, and it had all reached the water tank without incident…
without the aid of a service manual, im really starting to scratch my head here now though… is it poss something on the pcb ??? all the stats seem to be operational, and if it was the element id expect it to trip out within first few mins, not after 20 mins!
apparently still leaking (although not as much) so wondering if theres something ive missed, or if the old pump could have scrambled any eeprom on the pcb… aftecting operation of the pump as there isnt any board component visibly burt out
so cant work it out. if its not the pcb it has to be the socket (lead has continuity and similar resistance on each internal cable, implying no breaks)
but the socket + f/box hasnt been modified at all since before this dryer was put it, which would kinda rule it out. also has to be the drier, cos its always 18-22 mins into the drying cycle.
in fact it *supposedly* never tripped before it did a bearing + belt replacement, but the earth strip is in contact with the shaft, and i didnt touch anything else. so not sure quite how true this is, bouyed by the fact its first tripping was at least 5 weeks after bearings were done…

If i was you I would check the heater wiring where it comes from the heater box into the cabinet.
Because I bet the extra tension from the new belt has started to force the drum to cut through the cabinet and occasionlly catching one of the wires .
look for a indentaion on the cabinet or a small burn on the wire.May 10, 2010 at 8:20 am #319566geoff1

Hi
I have had similar faults of leaking and blowing trip. What I have found is that the water from the condensor has not been able to get through to the pump as the hole at the rear of the chamber has been blocked. Te water has then built up at rear of chamber to a level where it starts to leak through to the heater box. Some of the water leaks onto the floor and some is blown up onto the element by the fan causing it to earth. If you take off the heater box you would see a circle of white around fan on back panel plus some going up to element.
It may also go back to the time that pump stopped working and the element got wet and breaks down once been on for a while.HTH

I’ve had a few where the heater wiring has got worn going through the back panel hole. I’ve had two others where its blown a hole through the cabinet back panel ner to the cable tie.

ok will check it, sounds more likely than the blocked hole as i cotton budded around there to make sure it was free of gunk

Where the heater wire goes through into the cabinet put some insulation tape over the metal all around the hole…. I had one tripping and it took bloomin ages to find the fault… the wire was earthing to the casing right through the cable insulation
