ParticipantWent to a Diplo ADP8221 Dishwasher yesterday (no-body else wants to do ’em, so I get ’em!). Expecting the usual hassle, and got it!
Machine would not fill, so I checked the usual and found the water valve was open circuit.
(Also some clever person had punctured the back of the wash compartment with a knife or skewer, and water had leaked into the base pan from the hole, now dried up. I sealed up the hole. But possibly the valve had got wet?)
Replaced the valve. But then found that the water valve was energised (opened) as soon as the machine was started. If you opened the door it closed. If you turned of the power it closed. So it was not a faulty valve. But in any pgm, including the “reset”, what would happen is: water valve opened at once, remaining open, constant filling. Pump butting in and emptying the machine at regular intervals but not continuous.
Is this a module fault? I would think so (the water valve opens immediately you start any pgm, does not wait for the initial pumpout) but I hate buying in a module and finding it was something else….
Help as usual much appreciated.

Blown triac on pcb for sure – probably shorted when the water leak landed on the valve.

Dave in W’goods Spares just pointed out to me the ADP8221 does not have a module – it has a timer and switch bank.
I did not strip out the control panel due to shortage of time (you don’t want to know how long I spent on this machine…) so I can’t comment, except to say it has the five LEDs and single button as on the PCB models…
So if not a triac, blown timer??

Sorry Mike,
Whirlpool head on… Yup, SMEG with Eaton timer. I think I’d start by chasing the neutral round the machine. Drain pump out of circuit will stop it filling – wiring at the door pivot can be an issue. If that all checks out, I suppose the timer is the only option left.
