ParticipantCall to put a start switch on a Whirlpool w.m. board (QER). QER put switch in wrong place so board had to be returned. Got the switch in the right place second time but machine still not starting up??
Now is it still faulty from QER or has is there another fault that the switch caused when it dropped off.
Relayed this to the customer, they already had a loan machine while the board fault was sorted, told them about the AW23 and she said ‘I’ll have one of those then, but could I keep your loan machine until…….is sorted out, will be after Wednesday next week (last B.H.)’
Not heard anything from them and assumed nothing had changed so I was in no rush last week.
Called today to inquire when I could sort it out with them to be told they’d been to Currys to buy a new machine and let the board go back with the scrap machine. The board has now to be paid for in full plus labour etc to try and sort the fault out.
Brass necked I think the phrase is. 👿

Some people have no consideration.
I would of charged them for the board and labour stating it is still your property until it is paid for so they had no right to throw it away without your consent.Phil

Makes my blood boil this sort of thing. Selfish to the core some people. Unfortunately becoming more common.
(They wouldn’t get your side of things even if you explained it to them a million times.)
I wonder what the ‘Karma’ will be on what they have done?

ParticipantYes I would definatley invoice them for the cost of the board to cover your cost.
Im sure if you explain to them how much you are down on the job and offer to provide receipts to prove it they will cough up.May 10, 2010 at 8:18 pm #319835Cras

Totally agree.
I always take my call out charge on the first visit when ordering parts or having to pay out, I also rush too finish the job, once a few days have passed clients tend to change there minds so its best not to drag it out.
I doubt they will pay an invoice and I’m not sure if you can recover the cost anyway, worth trying though, but they’ll probably tell you what to do with it.

This brass-necked numpty phones me at 07:10 this morning (I don’t get up ’til 07:30 by the way)….not bested pleased at that, to be truthful. :rolls:
Numpty has “found me on the Internet and wants me to fix his Bosch dishwasher urgently as it’s not draining!……he lives over 20 odd miles away but I arrange to meet him at his place between 9 and 10 this morning. Traffic was manic, took me an age to get on the motorway and I’m cruising in the fast lane between Junc 6 and Junc 5 when ‘brass-necked numpty’ phones me to say….”sorry, I’m going to have to cancel the job as my wife tells me she got it fixed by someone yesterday….sorry about that!”
I was madder than a bl**dy March hare at his glib attitude to all the trouble I’d gone to, not to mention the wasted journey and the fact I still had several miles to go in order to get off the motorway. I was intent on completing the journey and have it out with him….! 👿
Seconds later my missus rang me as apparently he’d left a message on my answerphone at home and she overheard the message. I told her I was going to have it out with him as I’d long passed the point of no return. She reminded me of ‘a similar incident’ 25 odd years back (won’t elaborate to you but her reminding me calmed me down somewhat!)……………….Instead I took a few deep breaths and headed for home. 🙁
And before anyone suggest sending him a bill for my troubles, thanks but no. Waste of time that idea, but if anyone knows of a workable ‘brass-necked numpty filter’ I could use then Cornwell40 and me could make good use of that! 💡

I (almost) never answer the phone out of normal working hours.
Thats my numpty filter.
I may loose work, but everytime I here it ring and have given in to the voice in my head, its turned out to be an idiot.
I did it this Saurday, 6.10pm, I left it ring, got voice mail, Beko cooker faulty (2nd alarm bell rings and ignored), so I ring back, its not workin the rings or the oven, grill ok, can you give me a price, not really it’ll be a guess, but my callout gives 30 minutes labour to diagnose etc, he decides that I’m not worth the call out and states he’s goin elswhere.
Arsehole.
I considered billing him the phone call and the 10 minutes conversation. 😆
Lawyers bill for phone calls I think its time I did.

£100 cash for my troubles. WYBI. 😀
Thats even after they hung up on me last night after telling them who it was on the phone. When I went round to pick up the loan today I was expecting it to be sat in the rain.
The brass necked numpty daughter has a cracking old dear of a mother who doesn’t approve of brass necks ways.
There is a dog 😆
