It would not pump out so I checked the pump and found that the rubber non return valve inside it had broken off and was blocking the exit drain hose. I remove the broken rubber flap valve and all seem to work OK but ,,, Is the non return valve required or it is in case you plumb the outlet hose direct into a waste pipe??? Thanks in advance John

hi john the non return valve is to stop water flowing back into the dishwasher if its connected to the sink, if the waste pipe of your dishwasher is connected to the sink just raise the waste pipe as high up the kitchen unit as possible and this should stop any dirty water going back into the dishwasher, hope this helps

Hello Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated . I did guess it may be something to do with preventing back flow. The waste pipe is not connected to the sink. It just goes direct into the top of a waste pipe which then goes direct to the drain. The pump works fine as it is and I did not want to spend £90 on a new pump as the rubber valve cannot be bought on it own… Thanks again John ….

PS If anyone else has this problem, it can be confusing as you can drain the water out by holding the waste pipe close to the floor…. but when the pump starts the rubber flap jams the pump blade so no water gets pumped out
