Participantwell that’s what I call it….mostly when doing 3 or 4 towels and just winding up to spin so it is doing low revs with heavy wet towels.
The drum is nicely centred so I assume springs are intact. The outer drum will bang the cabinet sides about 8 times before the revs have built up and it continues smoothly for the rest of the cycle.
I replaced the brushes in the motor recently and could see nothing obvious then and thought the new brushes may have fixed the symptons.
Now I’m thinking out of balance thingy or dampers(shock absorbers?) or maybe slipping belt.
Any input appreciated.Cheers….Valvo

Tired dampers I would think – what’s the rest of the model number?

Thanks for the reply P45 (cheers once again from sunny Sth Australia).
Unfortunately the little sticker with the full model number on the inside of the door is illegible. It was marketed in OZ as Bosch Maxx 1200….WFL2400AU

Made in Thailand from German parts, I will try the local agent but they are sometimes obnoxious to deal with when trying to get any info out of them especially advice to fit the parts you have to buy from them to fit yourself.Valvo

would there not be a full label on the rear?
so “as-you-were-looking-at-it-from-the-back” top LHS, just under the lip of the lid, thats where the main ones are on the uk spec models…

SWMBO is using the machine at the moment so I won’t get a chance to look at it till much later. Interestigly the instruction manual mentions the door frame and “also on the identification plate, enclosed by a thick line, on the front of the machine behind the nameplate.”….no idea were that is unless it is behind the front panel with all the switches and dials….my bet is it’s on the back like you say.

SWMBO has just told me that the machine has always done it even when new and she remembers the repairman telling her that it’s nothing to worry about as the out of balance mechanism will stabilise it. Of course I never noticed it as she always did washing whilst I was at work. Is this normal for these machines like the repairer said? It doesn’t cause the machine to dance around the floor but to me about 8 thumps from inside the machine is a bit dodgy.
A shock-absorber repair kit is $120 (72Pounds) here in OZ so a bit much to throw at the machine if it is not going to change anything.

Yup, £55 a pop. You have to drill out the peg on the drum, then fit a bolt and fitting plates to attach the new ones. BSH say that there isn’t and never was, a problem…….

No…machine has been installed for about 4-5yrs with the only time I’ve had it out was 6 weeks ago to replace the brushes.
The previous Bosch 1605 used to bang around kinda similar when the brushes were worn or the belt was slipping.
I don’t recall seeing a way of adjusting the belt on the WFL2400.
She plans on doing the towels Saturday so I’ll study it more carefully then remove it next week to get the model number and look inside (power off of course).cheers….Valvo

Cheers from Sunny Sth Australia…..well 3 years later and I have finally got around to pull the machine out and looking at this problem again as it has got worse.
The model number is WFL2400AU/20FD made in Thailand.
I have disconnected the bolt at the base and the shock absorber shaft is wobbly and has no resistance moving in and out.
The local Bosch guys are a lot more helpful now and have told me the part # for the shock absorber is 448032 $95 for the kit. I don’t know if that part # is for the friction type.
Now when I punch that number into your spares website it shows a tubular shocker 433761 45Pounds
Has any-one retro fitted the friction shocker with a tubular one?
Does the kit have two shockers?

The replacement is correct, it is a mod where the fixing pin is replaced by a nut and bolt (that comes in the kit together with fitting ins) 😀

Thanks Martin,
but is it a kit of two shockers?
My local Bosch repair shop couldn’t tell me….they say because it is 8-9 years old just dump it and buy the new one for $699.
I have since found out the part # for the friction shock is 642112.
http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-642112-Damp … hine+parts
They appear to be sold individually.
The kit 448032 also appears to be sold individually also

These are both USA sites though.
Looks like you drill the pin out, would you take the front panel off for access?
cheers….ValvoFebruary 15, 2013 at 10:04 am #320544Martin

Sold singly here in the UK but I guess it’s the same in Oz I would imagine? Front and rear panel to access.

Bugga….time to do the maths.
$200 for new shocks + coupla hours for me to fit.
Or an extra $500 for a new WAE24272 AU with 2 years warranty and keep the old one for spare parts, or $472 for an el-cheapo 7.5kg Samsung which is getting good reviews in OZ.cheers….Valvo

Well I managed to pickup a kit containing a pair of shockers from a German Ebay site for 75Euro delivered to OZ and nearly 1yr on I finally fitted them yesterday.
These Thai built machines we get here now only have a removable front panel so I found it easier to remove the whole drum to drill out the pins. It all went back together OK, I loaded it up with towels and it was better than new according to Mrs Valvo.
I very much suspect it’s the towels we tend to use in OZ that are causing an overloading problem, they are 1600mm x 800mm and are very heavy when wet causing unbalance where-as in UK and europe the towels are much smaller. I guess it makes them much easier to dry and gentler on the shockers.
I now know of 3 bosch machines that have had failed shockers but interestingly both my kids have 8 yr old locally made Electrolux front loaders that get overloaded and are bullet proof.cheers…Valvo
