Produced December 2002.
They will do it for £115 all in under 8 years old, they will only guarantee the parts for 90 days though. :rolls:

You might get an local independant enginner to do it for around that price, or for not much more (£130.00 ish). You’ll get a better guarantee period and guy won’t try and sell you extended warranty insurance as the Hotpoint call Centre will.
Try repairs@ from menu on the left to find a local engineer…
Worth a try

thanks for the replies
i was going to have it repaired and sell on as we have a new one coming tomorrow, but looking at the used prices it wont be worth it. i may look at striping it myself and see if i can just do them myself for the cost of the bearings (i am an engineer but i know these are a pig) as the rest of the m/c looks mintMay 19, 2010 at 3:09 pm #320616iadom

At that age there is a very good chance it will have the original Hotpoint 35mm bearings & shaft rather than the later, cheapo Indesit 30mm ones.
If the drum shaft is in decent order then its very much a worthwhile repair.
Not really a pig of a job either. 😉

will i only know which bearings it has when i strip it, or can i tell from the serial number?May 19, 2010 at 3:22 pm #320618iadom

Look at the drum pulley, if it is metal then it has the 35mm bearings. If it is black plastic then it may have either. If so then check the top concrete weight. If it is a fraction over 2 inches thick it has the 35mm bearings. If it is nearer to three inches thick it has the 30mm ones.
