ParticipantThe program dial recently got very stiff, we weren’t sure if the machine was clicking itself forward as it should. I turned it through 360 degrees a few times. Now the large centre part which selects the program is turning ok, but the outer wheel with the program numbers is not connected and does not turn at all. It is therefore virtually impossible to choose the correct wash.
I found this thread elsewhere but not much else

Any clues? I’d be happy to get Ron’s Repairs out again if it is easily fixable. Cheers.

Update : I seem to have founds wash cycles 2 (60 degrees) and 4 (40 degrees) and have tried to mark them. The wash cycles seem to be fine. But it is still going to be real guesswork for the delicate washes etc so if any one has any clues on fixing the outer part of the program dial then that would be great.

Hi, thanks for your interest.
Product Number Code:914670019
Manual here http://www.serviceforce.co.uk/pdfs/U01013.pdf
More washes today and the main selector gets very stiff, feels like you are about to break something (maybe I am!) and then it frees up again. The outer dial with the markings on it is stuck fast.

It’ll be already broken, Jaunty.
Grip the timer knob firmly and turn the cap anti-clockwise. This will pop off and reveal a 7mm nut. Undo it and remove the knob. Looking into the hole thus revealed, you should see a red or green plastic ring. This will have jumped its location on the cam inside. Remove the programme indicator and clean everything thoroughly – it’s a classic “greased up” problem.
The plastic ring is p/no 1245817026 and the knob is 50247249001 (The cap sometimes breaks when you try and remove it). spares@ukwhitegoods will be able to supply the parts if required.

Hi, I’ve taken the cap of and here are a couple of not very good photos of what is beneath

I’ll find something to reach the nut and give everything a good clean then report back. 😀

UKWhitegoods have been incredibly helpful but the part I need (the outer dial showing the programs on it) appears to be obsolete. I think I have found and marked wash number 4 (40 degree standard wash) on the centre dial so we are just using that for now.
