ParticipantI have been looking at the various articles in the forums and have done everything that was needed. I,e change the sensors, covers etc.
I noticed that the fan was getting noisy again and needed defrosting on a regular basis. After defrosting, I press the two top buttons for the diagnostic check and it confirms that there are no problems. When I repeat it again say after 12 hours I get the defrosting error. I then switch the power off wait 20 seconds and put the power back on. Check the diagnostics and again it will say all is well. But after a few hours it will revert back to the defrost problem.
HELP what could be wrong???
Regards

If you unplug appliance, fault codes are lost. You need to leave it on for about 24hrs to register fault codes. The fault is probably open circuit defrost heater

theres no fault registeered, and the only one that doesnt show a fault code is the defrost heater
and that will no doubt be the fault

If the defrost heater is open cicuit the fault code that appears is the centre segment of the right hand “8”, displayed if frost removal during refrigerator defrost is not completed within 80 minutes

Hi Johnsdad
That is exactly where the fault code appears which I presume confirms what you guys have been saying, the defrost heater is KAPUT.
Will order a new one on Tueday.
Thanks again.

Hi johnsdad and helo_75
I finally got the defrost heater this morning.
Took everthing apart and attempted to fit the defrost heater.
Problem arrived when I tried to disconnect the two copper pipes. They were covered in black mastic and appears to be “soldered” on.
How do I disconnect these pipes? Once these are disconnected, it would appear putting the new part in would be a doodle.
I can email you guys the pictures if you email me your email address.
Mine is yhng45@hotmail.comAny help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Yattie

Yat … DO NOT TRY TO DISCONNECT THOSE SOLDERED PIPES !!!!
You have been supplied the complete evaporator, which can only be fitted by an experienced systems engineer with the correct equipment ; What you need to do is remove the element from the evaporator you have been supplied and refit to the old evaporator – if you look carefully , the heater is clipped in at the end of each run, just before it bends back on itself ; a pair of pliers and a bit of patience and you will be able to do it . Just take care not to puncture the pipes that are behind the heater and soldered on .

HELO_75
This is why we chase round comet engineers who have changed evap covers 9 times for the sake of a sensor..
the only fault which will NOT show a fault is the defrost sensor that has gone out of calibration.
if the heater failes then the middle segment it lite up on the fridge side.

Eureka! Did as instructed and removed the old heater from the fins and slowly replaced it the new one.
Works OK so far. Waited 24 hours and did the twin button test and now no fault errors have appeared.
Thanks once again to all for your help.
