Trying to dismantle this vac, lifted lid cover,removed the 5 top screw,trying to split the top from base not moving easily,reluctant to force them apart in case it brakes..feels somthing is still holding it together..any one advise please. thanks john.

Normally on Miele the main top half is held with 7 screws, some being hidden by the small rear panel which incorporates the on off button and cord retract button. This panel is held by one screw and 2 clips. You should be able to release these clips by poking a flat screwdriver down at the rear corners of the 2 buttons where they meet the panel itself.
