    hand held dc16 switch it on goes for about 5secs then dead switch it off then on again does the same thing
    anyone help

    Have got the same only mine has to be put back on the charger befor it will restart.then it will run for 5sec then stop but red light flashing so I am begining to think it might be battery

    Usually either the battery, or the charging circuit…. I hate dysons with a vengeance,
    Never known a make of vac take up so much room in my local dump!

    Give me a Kirby or Sebo any day

    If its still under warranty, have a word with Dyson… They should send you a replacement main body…
