I get four flashes on the fault indicator is this a drainage problem and are there any easy solutions?

No drain detected in the time allowed. Does it actually drain?

There is no water in the bottom of the dishwasher, it looks the same as always. But during he cycle it starts beeping (four times before pause)and when opened the programme light has gone to the rinse position. I,ve reset it (pressed the start button until it stops flashing) changed programme and restarted but it still does the same!

THIS LITTLE BLIGHTER will be the culprit. The grid will either be jammed full of congealed fat (white deposits) or the microswitch will have failed.

Power off if you intend to work on the appliance yourself.
