ParticipantHi,
we have an AEG oko_lavamat 86720 update ( PNC 914 001 256 00 , S-NO93601252) which we recently had some brushes fitted to (£90) then second wash after that the belt came off the motor, this was then replaced free of charge. After this had been replaced on the second wash the machine tripped all the electric off in the house and AEG came out and advised that it was the motor. which would cost £220 to replace.
Online and local independent want £340 just for the motor. Better motor?
Looking online it would appear that the controller may also go if the motor has gone?
£340 off the ISE10 dishwasher is rather attractive 🙂
unsure which way to jump replace the motor and hope nothing else needs doing or just get the ISE10 and be done with it. The AEG machine is now 10years old, is it likely to need more parts after the motor is replaced ? or shall we cut our losses and go with the ISE10 washer
thanks

This is an original, German made tank, a very good quality machine.
The motor is around the £220 mark though.A difficult decision, the motor or any other part that trips out will often take out the main PCB on the Zanussi made AEG machines but I’ve not seen it on one of these.
Online or local independent quoting £340 for part alone is a rip off. :rolls:

thanks for your reply, some further questions below if your able to?
the lights on the front are still lighting up up when machine is powered on, would this suggest that the PCB is ok?
A Little unsure now wether to get this one fixed for the £220 or put that towards the ISE…..?
What is the likely hood of other parts failing on a 10 year old AEG “tank” ?
Is a £220 motor going to be an AEG-Electrolux as opposed to an orignal AEG motor, hence the difference in costs?
thank you.

The lights coming on is not a bad sign but no cast iron g/tee, the electronics on these are very robust though.
The £220 motor is the only one, Electrolux actually make vacs, flymo’s and decent refrigeration, most other appliances have been ‘acquired’ 😉
It will be an original AEG/FHP type motor. Electrolux may own the factory that makes the motor though, I have no idea on that score.
As I have already stated, the quote of £340 for the motor is a blatant rip off.
To tell the truth even £220 is way over the top. :rolls:
