ParticipantThis dishwasher has developed a slow leak that seems to be filling up the sump.
So every 2 or 3 days I have to tip it on its side to empty the water over the floor and mop it up again. Otherwise whenever I switch it on it just does that grumbling noise, which, having read other posts on this very helpful forum, means that the sump is full and the float switch is triggered. But once tipped and emptied it’s perfect again.
I’ve had a look at the back and base but there doesn’t seem any obvious way of getting to the insides. So I guess I need to attack it from inside?
But before I do, maybe somebody can give me advice or at least a link to a diagram or service manual. I have no manual at all for this machine.
I would usually ask my local repairer, Nick – from Plug-In in Stafford, but he’s laid up at the moment having had surgery on his back. Get well soon, Nick.

You can get some diagrams and parts info from the Bosch site
Put your model number in hereJune 3, 2010 at 12:22 pm #321598SpannerRash

Thanks for that link. I found an exploded diagram on there, and I suspect that’s how my dishwasher is going to end up looking. 😳
But if anybody can tell me where to start… (after unplugging it!) Attack it from the inside, or turn it upside down and try to remove the base?

I do not know this model but you may be able to say if experience with my own bosch is relevant.
I was fixing one problem and tilted the machine. It was “empty” but water probably from the drain pump sump ran past the door seals into the base as the seals are really only splash guards. The only effective way to dry the base I found was to keep it vertical, use a turkey baster and poke teatowels into spaces with long skewers, (power off of course).
It may just be your leak needs clearing less often if you keep it vertical, also I would worry about what electrical components get wet when you tilt the machine.
not a solution I know but it might make the problem a litttle more manageable till you can determine the cause and may prevent more serious damage.
good luck

Have a hunt in this forum for Bosch dishwasher issues
For examplehttp://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ic&t=44514
Gives some idea what access you will need.
If you are lucky you will be able to check the matrix and hoses for obvious leaks -if it is elsewhere then then base has to come away….not that easy imhoJune 3, 2010 at 10:28 pm #321601nomadPaul

I will warn you now….DO NOT TURN THE MACHINE UPSIDE DOWN !!! yOU COULD END UP SOAKING ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS !!!
The best thing to do is unplug it , tilt it to remove the water from the base as you have been doing and then watch the appliance fill and start to wash with the side panels off. You may see where the waters coming from .
PLEASE DO NOT POKE AROUND WHILE IT’S RUNNING THOUGH .

Thanks for all the help.
I took the sides off. It was only after a lot of bodging and bending that I discovered the top is supposed just to slide off, allowing the sides just to unscrew… 😳
And all the links helped.
I couldn’t see an obvious leak, so I took off the water inlet unit (just because it was easily accessible), cleaned the pipes and seals and applied some sealant. I’ll see if that fixes the problem. If not, I’ll poke around a bit more.
