I need a new bearing for the drum, which seems cheap enough, but also the fan on the back has worn itself a big rattley hole, so i think that needs replacing too.

From what I read on this forum they appear to be one of the worst dryers to work on. Any ideas how I get the back off? All screws are out but the fan appears to be stopping it.

Maybe its time to replace it, made in britain doesn’t mean what it used to, sadly.

These ISE machines look nice but i won’t pay £700 for a dryer, what is another reasonable machine for less than half of that?

White Knight are still a good bet in the budget range, build quality isn`t what it used to be but they are still a reasonable dryer and spares are still relatively cheap as well.

The Zanussi range is a good all round bet IMO, solid product for the price and easily accessible spares.

Both brands should give you a life of about six to eight years for an out lay of around the £200 to £250 mark if you look after it.

If you have the funds to hand the ISE is a very good value product and I would recommend it everytime.

It will have a ten year guarantee to start with and with it`s robust construction it should go for a good twenty years. Spares have no mark up, so economical to repair, service is from your local supplying engineer, no call centre to go through.

    HTH 🙂

I got the hotpoint TCD970A for £290, thanks for your help.

A local store had it to take away straight away rather than waiting for an inept delivery company to find my house, I like supporting local business too.
