BlockedHad my Gas Safe inspector over earlier and got chatting about ‘Limited Scope’ etc. Anyways, cut a long story short……………..
He’s ‘suggested’ that our association keep checking the website over the next month or contact Gas Safe about this:
HSE have tasked Gas Safe with 2 ‘missions’ that are commencing over the next few weeks. Mission 1, is a crack down on illegal operatives. Not for us BUT… Mision 2: To re-asscess ‘Competancy’ scope. In other words, they will be welcoming members of the trade to negociate what should be relevant and what shouldn’t.
What he has basically said, is that he understands the issues we have as whitegoods engineers, NOW would be the time as an association to ‘Sit’ with Gas Safe and see what could be done to ‘Make life easier’ for us that don’t repair gas appliances day in day out.
Might it be worth someone taking ownership of this ‘wink’ and follow this through, see where it leads?
Ade 🙂

11 views, no comments… Is it worth looking into?
I’ll have a bash if no-one else has the time?
Ken, you’ve been to the HSE over this, is this worth poking our toes into?

I missed it!!
I don’t suppose you got a contact within Gas Safe regarding this did you?
What happens most times is that you have to register your interest as a “stakeholder”, then GS and/or HSE are obliged to keep you in the loop and run stuff past you.
But yes, it’s worth pursuing. All I really need is who to harass. 😉

Yeah the Inspector left me his card, said if we want to know more, just call him 🙂
Apparently, this is all kicking off within the next 2 Months 🙂
I’ll email you the guys details when in office tomorrow, glad you want to persue it as this needs a more ‘experienced’ and ‘knowledged’ person to deal with 🙂

Email away, I blind copied you in on that Ade.
And, so it begins… again. :rolls:
I just hope I can dig up the essay I wrote for Frontline/HSE a few years ago as, really, nothing’s changed.
I hope the new mob have more luck!!
I also happen to know that we’re not the only ones pushing for some sort of “limited scope”. Basically, FYI, that means that certain operatives, such as ourselves, would only have to be familiar with the systems on which we work, we would not have to do the full on ACS training to fix a damned hob.
So, if it’s even remotely possible, it’s well worth a try.

KeymasterAde, can you get a contact from Gas Safe to contact me?
I’d do it but I’m supposed to be on hol and getting evil stares for being on a PC. 😉

Will do K, but I’ll wait until you’re back on home soil otherwise those stares you’re getting might evolve into a more physical issue! 🙂
