We have a Hotpoint washing machine (Not sure of model No as not at home) that stops mid-cycle, normally before spin.
If the machine is power-cycled it will then carry on ok, any ideas ?

Check the filter, drain hose, connection to sink and sump hose for any blockages, in that order.
Without the model number it’s impossible to say where the filter could be.

Just called home, model is a WF220 Aquarius, and it always stop before the spin cycle.
Power it off, back on and it will continue fine.

Rinse hold button? Delicate program including rinse hold?

Rinse-Hold button is not pressed, but I assume you mean it could be faulty.
Fault is not always occuring, today it went through the cycle ok.

Finally managed to get this sorted after problem went away for a few weeks then started again.
As suggested checked out filter at rear of machine, inside black flexy hose.
It was a little bit blocked, and after giving all pipes etc a good clean, all is now well again.
