Had a call to the above machine, customer complained the machine is noisy and the a smell of burning rubber.

As suspected the inner tub has been rubbing on the door seal.

The bearings and spider feel fine. When I turn the the drum it is slightly out of alignment, but no more than you see on a lot of machines. The door seal does rub slightly a one point of a rotation.

The customer is not aware of anything getting stuck down the front edge of the drum that could have caused it to buckle of of alignment.

The customer has used this machine for 2 years without a problem.

Apparently the customer used it without fabric conditioner this time which could account for higher friction between the drum and door seal therefore more heat.

I have come across this on machines with faulty bearings or spider, and the old Servis machines (that’s gong back) and more recently on the Beko.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would think it is most likely a fractured spider, I have had this myself a few times with the Hoover six range, where I haven’t been able to feel any give on the spider but when on a high spin with a load in, it will show its self up.

Slight crack in the spider is my guess 😥

    Two years?

That machine must be approaching 10 years now.

Wet and spin a full load of towels, you will definitely see and hear the fault then.

It’s a tenant who has lived in the property for two years.
