ParticipantHi, Great site, had a long search but can’t find anyone with a same issue as me. When I start a program on this washer/dryer it starts to fill but after a minute or so puts up E 14 on the display and stops with a few beeps. E 14 isn’t in the user manual, anyone any idea what it might mean?
If set to empty and spin it does nothing either, if set to dry, it spins the drum a few times then stops with the same E 14 error.
The error first happened last week but resetting the program and it worked fine. Now it won’t do anything except show the error.
It’s about a 5 year old machine, but is only used about once a week, so relatively few road miles!
Cheers!

The E14 fault relates to the dryer NTC (temperature sensor). If the machine detects a fault in any of the sensors, it will abort the cycle & show an error code. The dry NTC is located on the rubber vent hose coming from the dryer assembly which connects to the top of the door seal (behind the facia panel). It may just be a faulty connection or broken wire. Once you have checked for broken wires or faulty connections & if no fault can be found, a new NTC may be required (siemens part no 425059 cost about £16). The easiest way to get at the sensor is by removing the lid, but being an integrated machine its probably easier said than done. Dont forget to unplug the machine before sticking your fingers in!

ParticipantWow, quick response, what a forum!
Thanks for that I’ll look into into in more and report back, as you say it’s an integrated unit installed when apt was built and I have to say they have ‘integreated’ it far more than I would have liked.
Draining the unit and clearing out the blockages a couple of years ago involved a fair bit of woodwork just to get at the panels. Anything more than that looks like a nightmare…

It is possible to gain access to the NTC by removing just the facia panel. You still have to pull the machine out slightly about six inches. This gives access to the two screws which are on the right hand side of the facia panel (hidden down the side). Remove the dispenser drawer & take out the three screws which are visable in the recess. Once you have done this, pull the facia foward but be carefull (the display module & door release button is mounted on the facia). The facia will just hang loose so you can inspect the connections on the NTC & replace if necessary. Its quicker & easier with this method, but its not very easy to check for breaks in the wiring loom.

thanks for that, I discovered just this on Sunday morning, had a good look at what I could see checked connections etc and couldn’t see anything wrong. Put everything back together and the machine worked! Got a wash out of it, but today it’s not working again.
Checked with whitegoods for the part but they don’t stock it. Sounds like it is more likely to be a bad connection possibly where I can’t see or is it possible the NTC itself is just gone a bit flaky?
Any ideas where to get one (I’m in Dublin)…
Thanks again for all the help

Yes, I have had the odd NTC fail & cause intermittant problems. They can go out of tolerance. You can order it online from siemens http://www.bshcustomerservice.co.uk click on spare parts.
Or if you prefer by phone tel 01450 2655 (Ireland spares dept). -
