I have the mark 1 hardware key, it is very useful as it has an lcd display that displays the fault codes.

The mk2 version has no screen. Hotpoint advised me that it flashes red if a fault is found and flashes green if no fault is found.

I asked if the fault code is deturmined by the number of flashes. I was the informed that it only confirms there is a fault with the appliance and will not assist to locate the nature of the fault. I explained that as the customer has called for assistance as the machine is not working, why would i need to spend £90.00 to confirm it was faulty?
Can any one shed any light on the mk2 version.
    Mk 1 part no C00145046
    Mk 2 part no C00115587

Don’t bother as they appear to be phasing out the hardware key. A lot of the latest machines have a new platform module called arcadia. If you plug a test key in to these by mistake (and the socket on the outside of the machine is identical) it can blow both the module and the test key. 😥
