Bosch model SGS43C12GB. Dirty water sitting in the machine. Cleaned filters and checked that impeller rotates freely ok. Disconnected waste hose and found no obstructions and a little water runs out when the machine tipped back. Reset the machine and started a new program. ‘Active’ light illuminated then there was the sound of filling for a few seconds then nothing – no sound of circulation or of drain pump……. Any ideas?

Today I baled out the machine ane poured degreaser into the base of the machine. I took the side panels off and found the matrix looked clean and that the circulation pump turned freely. I also found an earth wire had become detached from a black plastic component located between the power terminals of the circulation pump. I replaced the wire and powered up the machine and it ran ok although the drain pump is quite noisy.
I’m not convinced that replacing the earth wire was what fixed the machine which suggests to me that the problem may recur. I would be happier if I was able to get to the waste pump impeller and satisfy myself that there wasnt a solid object stuck in with it. However, having lifted out the strainers, I wasn’t able to get closer than putting a finger on the impeller nose.
I puit the machine back together and into position and ran it through three cycles ok. So fingers crossed……

If the drain pump is noisy, it is worn and will fail again quite soon. You should replace it at your earliest convenience.
