ParticipantWould a kind GBdar agent or Servis engineer confirm the price of S900 door handle kit part number 719004400 for me please.
Connect and Washvac both want circa £20 for it 😯 which seems ridiculous, but then it is Servis, but even so.
If correct it’s time to bring the most ridiculous spare price thread back to life methinks.
Ta in advance.

hi dave, if you want exact price, i’ll look it up for you, but they are roughly £25+.
it really is an unbelievable price and, if my memory is correct, they went up suddenly a few months ago from round about the £6 mark.
cheers.June 5, 2004 at 5:08 pm #112038kwatt

KeymasterThat is a totally outrageous price!!!
Dear God, Meile bits are better value than that Servis and GBDAR should be ashamed to ask for that much money for a bit of plastic that, two years ago, cost us under £1.30! Next we’ll be writing off appliances for a broken door handle, crazy.

KeymasterRe: Servis door handle kit
its already crazy that good appliances are written off because of a motor and module.
at least when they report a broken door handle I wont have to make a visit to write it off, just do it over the phone. Have a stand up with the consumer who thinks I’m barmy writing off her appliance because of a bit of plastic, end up politely telling her to never invest in the make again and then being faced with when you phone the insurer to write it off they will only do two at a time.
Insanity………….where would we be without it??????

Talking of door handles..
L.G. are another low life..you have to buy a complete door assembly at a cost of approx £45 if the handle breaks even though its a 5 min job to change one over.bryan

These horrecdous prices are starting to get on my tits now TBH
Electrue: £18.75 (trade)
Washvac £23.99 (trade)
GB Dar £25.62 (list price after deducting £6.50 post and VAT)How much discount do GBdar agents get please ?
I’m gonna go to town on these rip off merchants, even if it means involving the OFT.

Now there’s a thing 😕 Dave quotes £23.99 from Wash Vac and I can only see it listed as £26.46 trade. Has the big man from the West got a better trade discount from them I wonder ❓

It looks that way, but then I sell a lot of spares so quantity discounts apply I expect.

I did check this with my local Wash Vacs Rep (who has access to this site by the way) and he confirmed the larger companies that order more do indeed enjoy a better discount. When I cited the example here, he was surprised at the actual difference (some 12{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d})but nonetheless agreed such a discount was possible.
The conclusion being that there are Trade Prices and there are Trade Prices non of which are the same 😉
He further commented that ‘Servis’ spare part prices are, quote “a joke anyway, worst in the business!” unquote.

They are, which is why I’m gonna keep whinging about it 😉
I emailed the Spanish factory about this part (I even took the trouble to use Google to translate for me so they could read it). As yet no reply.

Just a note servis charge for the door catch components individually, if you have broken only one of the parts this part can usually be sourced for less than six quid. Makes the price sensible if you do it this way.
