ParticipantHi All,
My Bosch SMI 2022 Dishwasher has gone on the blink. I put it on this morning and it started the wash cycle fine. When I came back to the kitchen the power light was off and no activity with the machine. I left it powered off so I could get a closer look this evening.
The fuse at the wall socket had blown. After replacing that, I noticed a faint crackling/sparking sound coming from the washer – even with the machine’s power button not pressed in.
With the power switched off at the mains I removed the front cover/panel to try to find out where the sound was coming from. When I powered on again at the mains (keeping well away from the washer) I noticed the crackling sound was coming from the wiring near the bottom of the door. With the power off again I took a closer look and noticed charring on the cable – from shorting out I suspect.
The cable is labelled INDELMA 1 734 423 393 (03 1990).
It looks like it is bringing power etc to the various controls/switches behind the front panel. There are several wires bundled together and they eventually connect up to the control dial, door lock switch and power button. The wires form a ribbon cable at the point where the shorting is happening. This is where the cable comes from under the machine past the hinge and upwards to the front control panel area.
This looks like a straightforward replacement, but I can’t seem to find any such spare cables.
Can I ask for your advice/guidance on what approach to take with this, especially any pointers to where/if I could pick up such a replacement cable.
Is any additional information of use ?
The machine is now disconnected from the mains.
Thanking you in anticipation.

The full Enr number with the GB and the suffix number would be a help in identifying the correct part. However the wiring harness for most of that range is over £50.
Also a very difficult job to change the complete door wiring harness.

Hi Iadom,
many thanks for the quick reply 🙂
I see the following number on the dishwasher:
E-NR.SMI2022GB/03
Is that the one you were asking for ?
Thanks again

Thats the one. 🙂
Part number is 271532.
Not a repair I have ever undertaken, I’m willing to bet that very few Bosch engineers have either. 😉

Hi again Iadom,
many thanks for this info.
just two more questions to help me decide if a replacement attempt is worthwhile or whether a new machine is called for 🙂
– Could you give some pointers to what makes this a tricky/difficult job
– any recommendations as to where I could obtain this part (can’t see it on the whitegoods shop)Many thanks again

You won’t see the part in any online shop, it will like as not be a special order.
You can obtain it direct from BOSCH
The top part of the job is a simple one for one connection change, the rest of the harness goes deep inside the machine to the heater, motor, pump, valves, pressure switch, thermostats etc. Access to the base components on these machines is very limited without a major strip down. 😥

Ok thanks Iadom – clearer now 🙂
I’d forgotten about how difficult accessing the bottom part of this machine was (had to clear a blockage a few years ago – see post http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … highlight= ).
As the machine will have to come out anyway – I’ll take a closer look at the underside – not so sure my wife will be keen on letting me try to fix it 😉
Thanks again for all the help – much appreciated

I’ve done a few over the years & I can confirm its not the easiest job to do. I wouldn’t bother if you dont have access to the wiring diagrams because it is possible & very easy to put the connections in the wrong places if your concentration lapses (all the connections are the same, so any wire will connect to any component, unlike the modern stuff where the plugs are keyed & usually only connect to the correct component). If you are going to attemp it, my tip would be to take several digital photos of the wiring before you start. At least this way you would have something to refer to if you can’t remember where you just pulled that last wire from!

Part could well even be NLA (no longer available).
Or it may come as a “universal” loom… this is even worse to fit as colours don’t always match and the number of wires will be different.
Used to fit a few years ago, but not now thankfully 8)
